Welcome to our production of Woman in Mind by Alan Ayckbourn. We are delighted to offer you another piece of theatre with a difference, by making use of such a lovely outdoor space in our town. We hope being outdoors helps you feel more connected to Susan’s small town suburban life.
The play is set in the period in which it was written, back in the mid 1980’s. While the attitudes of that time, towards women and their role in society as well as towards mental health may have changed, the play still challenges us to reflect on our current attitudes. What never changes is that dark times can also lend themselves to humour. Ayckbourn’s characters, both believable and fantastical, provide the comedy as well as the pathos as they reveal their weaknesses, losses and sadness. So buckle up for a heady mix of laughter and heart ache as you immerse yourself in Susan’s world.
