Pantomime is back in Linlithgow this January when we perform Cinderella - complete with Ugly Sisters, incompetent henchmen, an apprentice Fairy Godmother, glass slippers and jokes that make you go, “I’ll explain it when you’re older.”
Following the success of our unique, sold-out Scratch Theatre event in August, performed to widespread rapturous acclaim (where more than one audience member was heard to say, “Well, that was much better than I thought it would be!”) we are returning to more familiar ground with the timeless fairy story. Cinderella is the classic ‘rags to riches’ tale about a kind-hearted woman who, taunted and bullied by her evil stepsisters, perseveres against all the odds to… (spoiler alert!) marry a very nice chap who just happens to be a prince.
We are delighted that experienced director, Serena Jones, will be producing and directing this year’s extravaganza. And we will be joined by dancers from the Central Scotland Ballet School, who always bring such a magical element to our pantos.
This script for Cinderella was written by the late great Peter Anderson, who sadly passed away earlier this year, but in his lifetime was a most active member of our group as a chairman, actor, writer and…drummer! Peter wrote a number of scripts for us and we thought it would be a fitting way to pay tribute to Peter, to revive one of his pantos this year. You can be sure to enjoy a host of local references as our cast do the “Lithgae Walk” down the High Street on their way to the ball at Linlithgow Palace.
Panto tickets make a wonderful Christmas gift!
This year we are offering the "gift of panto" - receive an official Ticket to The Panto that you fill out for your friends or family, which can then be given as a gift. These go on sale at our ticket launch at the Advent Fayre at the Burgh Halls on 25th November or through our box office on 07849 448999.
Cinderella will be performed at Linlithgow Academy Theatre on Wednesday 17th January and Friday 19th January at 7 pm and Saturday 20th January at 2.30 pm.
Tickets are £14 adult and £8 child (16 and under). Opening night offer is £10 adult and £8 child. No booking fee for online sales! The “Gift of Panto” Panto invites are provided at no extra charge and can only be purchased at the Advent Fayre or via our box office.
