Welcome to One Act Wonders
Two one act plays designed to bring you a witty and wonderful winter’s night of wingdinging!

A Kind of Vesuvius is written by Gillian Plowman and is directed by Players stalwart Serena Jones. Serena was last seen playing Norah in The Allotment (also written by Plowman) at Bonnytoun Farm last September. In the play, set in the 1990’s, three men down on their luck meet in very unusual circumstances over an Encyclopaedia Britanica as their lives spiral into chaos. David, Derek and Ian teeter on the brink of a ‘kind of Vesuvius’, each in his own way trying to cope with unemployment. The play is heady mix of touching moments and manic humour with the occasional dance thrown in.

Lockdown in Little Grimley is a comedy by critically acclaimed writer David Tristram and directed by Sue Vizard. This is a welcome new addition to the very popular Little Grimley series which follows the antics of a hapless Amateur Dramatic Society. The Players are no strangers to the Little Grimley characters, having performed Little Grimley presents Strictly Sex Factor (on Ice) back in 2018. This time around, Little Grimley is in lockdown and the Chairman Gordon calls an emergency meeting to discuss his idea for their next production when restrictions ease - a touching love story set in a hospital, with all profits destined for the NHS. But based on their previous efforts, will the NHS actually end up worse off?
Please join us for our first indoor live performances since panto in January 2020! Thank you to all of you who joined us for our online Armchair Theatre event in November 2020 and our outdoor production of The Allotment and Wild Swim in September 2021. We loved receiving all your positive feedback and hope to see you again for One Act Wonders.
Please note that both plays are performed each night so just pick your night, buy a ticket and come along!
