Murder & Merlot 2024This year, sees the return of the much loved 'Plays & Wine' in the form of "Murder & Merlot".
Yes, after a 5 year hiatus for P&W, The Linlithgow Players return to “tread the boards” this autumn, on Friday and Saturday, the 15th and 16th of November at Mackinnon Hall, Linlithgow. During these extremely sociable, popular and fun filled nights, the Players will entertain you with two One Act plays along with two sketches. While the laughs, drama (and murder) flow from the stage, the audience are encouraged to partake in a merlot* or three. *of course other wines and indeed drinks will be available from the licensed bar. I'm Dissolving My Love in a Bath of Acid, might sound like the perfect excuse to miss a night out, but it’s also the title of the DC Jackson play in which convicted mass murderer David-John is released from jail, moving in with April - who married him while he was in prison – and her sister, May. With the sharp tang of serial humour this drama / comedy will have you on the edge of your seat. Murder in Little Grimley (by David Tristram), presents the hapless crime scene you’ve all been waiting for. Tristram’s ‘Grimley series’ of short plays – of which ‘Murder’ is the sixth - has featured in many of the past ‘Plays & Wine’ performances. This year is no different, with the familiar characters of Grimley’s ill-fated amateur dramatics society now facing an all-too-real Whodunnit! Will it be curtains for them all? This year, we also have two wonderful sketches on show. In A Small Medium at Large by Malcolm McGonigle, a psychic medium, communes with the spirits around us and brings the dead to the fore. It promises a very funny near-death experience for the entire audience. Turning Point by Judy Barker, focusses on the immediate concerns of two sisters who find themselves alone in a small building, just off the beaten track, having taken a wrong turn, and hoping that nothing bad is about to happen to them. Tickets, £13 are available on this site or from 07849 448999 Warning: These plays have adult themes that could give even the toughest kid nightmares — definitely a leave-the-kids-at-home situation! |
