Who are we?

We are an amateur dramatics group, originally formed in 1943. Today we have an active membership of about 30 - 40, of all ages, and our activities are wide and varied.

What do you do then?

From November to January we read and rehearse for our annual pantomime performed on stage in the local Academy Theatre.

Is that it?

Aye right! During the Spring, when numbers allow,  we perform a full length play, and in the Summer, at the invite of Historic Scotland, we can be seen most Sundays in August performing historical re-enactments, in full costume, of Mary, Queen of Scots, visit to her home in the magnificent setting of Linlithgow Palace. In October we put on Plays and Wine, an evening's entertainment of One Act plays and short sketches.

Very good. Do you party at all?

Do donkeys like strawberries? It's all thirsty work you know, and as such often requires a visit to our favourite local hostelry, Platform Three, to quench said thirst. Socially we have indulged in Burns' Suppers, theatre visits, Murder Mystery Tours and the odd, sometimes very odd, post-production party!

So when and where do you rehearse then?

Glad you asked. Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 7:30 till 10:00 in the evening, are our typical rehearsal nights in the Low Port Centre, invariably followed by a visit to a local pub to discuss . . . . well anything that takes your fancy really.

Is there a Close Season?

If you want, otherwise for the keen amongst us, even when there are are no performances in the pipeline, we continue to meet to try things out: reading new scripts; practising dialects and accents; rehearsing new material and improvisation. Members are encouraged to bring along their own 'homegrown' contributions. Evenings are  invariably followed by a visit to . . . . . . . . . . . . well you get the drift.
