Fire at Groughfoot Farm

An unfortunate incident occurred during the evening of 3 June 2007. The Players had been storing their stage equipment and props at
the farm adjacent to the Champany
restaurant. All contents have been lost in the
fire. These include stage flats and braces,
back cloths and a significant number of props
(such as Cinderella's carriage, the swan, the
salmon and hogs head and many other
significant items) that have been handmade
and accumulated The Players over the last 30
years.

Statement to Linlithgow Gazette and Bo'Ness Journal  - 5 June 2007
"A stone outbuilding at Groughfoot Farm caught fire on the evening of 3 June and was severely damaged.  For the past few years the Kennedy’s have kindly allowed the Linlithgow Players to store props and scenery in this barn.

We are thankful that no people or livestock have been injured in the fire and the Players extend their sympathy to the Kennedy’s.  However, unless the Players obtain an alternative storage and workshop facility, this fire will severely disrupt our planned productions.

Most of the lost and damaged items are irreplaceable, including a number of specially crafted stage props, created by members of the Players over the years.  We need to immediately start replacing our lost items.

I would appeal to anyone within the community who could provide alternative storage and workshop space to contact me at brian@linlithglowplayers.org.uk.” Brian Peebles, Chairman.
